Whenever I’m away somewhere I like to check out the local breweries or tap house.

In fact, I’m reluctant to go anywhere if there is no brewery or tap house nearby to explore.

So when asked to do a wine tasting weekend at Mudgee, my first googs search was ‘Breweries Mudgee’ and I found 2 winners.

was a lunch stop for us between wineries.  It’s just an old pub in a side street but what a cracker of a place. Olde worlde, friendly, lots of places to escape crowds and great food options. The tap list was huge (21 taps) and every beer I tried was excellent, and luckily for me it was walking distance from our accommodation, So later after checking in, I happened to wander back there to try more of their lovelies on tap.

No, I didn’t get through 21.  I’m a responsible adult mostly.

The second and my favorite was Small batch brewery and hop farm , this was wonderful. Although the hops were not in season, the lovely venue just outside of town on a small farm was something that inspires me to give up work and start my own. The beer selection, although not 21 taps ( less pressure ) was more than adequate and the beers were real quality. I love when you can sit and look at a beer menu in a stainless fermenter filled room and it doesn't matter what mood you are in, there is a selection to match. It happened to be on a lovely day so that helped make the venue shine and a quick hello from the owners perfected the visit.

The only downside was I had to drive home and didn’t get to try all their beers.

Mudgee will be a return trip for me if only to hit these two places again.

Brew Love Andrew.
